Connect an AI phone agent to NEC UNIVERGE
Your NEC system is still running and can take a SIP trunk. That means Tibinet's AI phone agent can be added without replacing the system. If you are already thinking about a successor, your telephony can also move to Tibinet entirely.

NEC UNIVERGE at a glance
In May 2024 NEC announced that it would stop selling its on-premises phone systems outside Japan. New SV9100, SV9500, SL2100 and UNIVERGE 3C systems were sold until the end of 2024. According to reports on that announcement, NEC's technical support ran until 31 March 2026. Many systems are still in service and can take a SIP trunk.
How the connection works
- A SIP trunk from the NEC to Tibinet, usually using registration, or an IP-based connection if the system has a fixed public address.
- SIP trunks need licences on the NEC. If your system already has them for your current provider, you may need an extra channel.
You can read how it works in general on connecting an AI phone agent to your phone system. All ports, codecs and settings are listed in the technical details.
What your IT team or installer does
Create the SIP trunk account
Create a SIP trunk account using the details we give you.
Codec and DTMF
Set G.711 A-law and DTMF according to RFC 4733.
Routes

Open the firewall
Allow our address through the firewall, for SIP and RTP.
Transferring calls
- Cold transfer: by default through a second call to your system. This always works.
- Warm transfer: your colleague first hears a summary and presses 1 (accept) or 2 (decline). If nobody answers, the caller stays with the agent.
- REFER: only if your NEC accepts it from this trunk. Otherwise the platform automatically falls back to the second call.
- The summary is also sent as a SIP header. Whether your handsets display it depends on your system and handsets; we do not promise it.
