An AI phone agent in an Ascom environment
Ascom handsets are usually attached to a phone system from another manufacturer. The Tibinet AI phone agent connects to that PBX through a SIP trunk. Nothing changes on the Ascom system itself for the connection.

Ascom at a glance
Ascom supplies wireless handsets (DECT, VoWiFi) and messaging systems, mainly in healthcare and industry. Ascom is usually not a PBX: the handsets are attached to a phone system from, for example, Mitel, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, innovaphone or Cisco. For how the connection works in general, see connecting an AI phone agent to your phone system.
How the connection works
- The AI agent connects through a SIP trunk to the PBX your Ascom handsets are attached to. See the page for your PBX.
- The agent can transfer to an Ascom handset or group, as long as that number is on the list of agreed destinations.
What your IT team does
The same as for your PBX. Nothing needs to change on the Ascom system itself for the connection.
Trunk on the PBX
Create a SIP trunk on your PBX or SBC to the address we send you.
Firewall and SBC
Allow SIP and RTP to and from our address.
Dial plan routes
A route for the agent numbers and an inbound route for the transfer numbers, such as the numbers of your Ascom handsets or groups.
Testing
Call the agent's short number and try a transfer to an Ascom handset.
All ports, codecs and settings are listed on the technical details page.
Transferring calls
Cold or warm, just as with your PBX. With a cold transfer, our platform places a second call to your PBX. With a warm transfer, your colleague hears the summary on their DECT handset and presses 1 to take the call or 2 to decline. If nobody answers, the caller stays with the agent.
