Connect an AI phone agent to Avaya IP Office and Avaya Aura
Your Avaya environment stays exactly as it is. Tibinet's AI phone agent is added through a SIP line on IP Office or a SIP entity in Aura. Callers the agent cannot help are passed back to a colleague on your own system.

Avaya at a glance
Avaya has two main product lines. IP Office is the phone system for small and medium-sized organisations. Avaya Aura is the platform for large organisations, with Session Manager as the central SIP router. In 2026 Avaya is focusing mainly on its largest customers and on the cloud. IP Office is still being supplied and remains in use at many businesses.
How the connection works
- IP Office: a SIP Line to Tibinet, using registration or an IP-based connection. Short codes or ARS send the agent numbers to that line.
- Aura: a SIP entity in Session Manager with a routing policy for 85XX and 88XXXXX, usually through the Avaya SBC for Enterprise (SBCE) at the edge of the network. An IP-based connection is the obvious choice.
You can read how it works in general on connecting an AI phone agent to your phone system. All ports, codecs and settings are listed in the technical details.
What your IT team does
Create the line or entity
Create a SIP Line (IP Office) or a SIP entity with an entity link (Aura) pointing to the SIP address we give you.
Open the SBCE or firewall
Allow our address on the SBCE or through the firewall, for SIP and RTP.
Route to the agent
Add short codes (IP Office) or dial patterns (Session Manager) for the agent numbers.
Route back
Add an inbound route for the transfer numbers.
Codec and DTMF
Set G.711 A-law and DTMF according to RFC 4733.
Transferring calls
- Cold transfer: by default through a second call to your system.
- REFER (optional): your system must accept REFER from this trunk. If that fails, the platform automatically falls back to the second call.
- Warm transfer: your colleague first hears a summary and presses 1 (accept) or 2 (decline). If nobody answers, the caller stays with the agent.
- The summary is also sent as a SIP header. Whether your handsets display it depends on your system and handsets; we do not promise it.
